Sudan

EMERGENCY – Khartoum
A heart surgery centre called Salam, which means “peace”. Patients treated here come from all over Africa and beyond. We visit different patients including a small girl from Iraq, others from Sierra Lion and from Eritrea. Visas for patients to enter Sudan are not easy to obtain, but through the good efforts of the local team, good relations have been created to simplify the many bureaucratic procedures. Emergency heart surgeries around the world send people with problems here. Travelling and operations costs are free. The country, for its central position, is suitable for this “regional” assistance centre. The work carried out here is incredible. We leave a 500-euro Elfo token contribution.
